Before joining our Human Resources Department, Sue served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 7 years. She was a motor transport operator for several years, ensuring personnel and cargo were transported as missions required. Sue also acted as the protocol NCO, ensuring logistics were arranged for key dignitaries while participating in Operation Team Spirit in South Korea. During her service, she quickly advanced in rank in the areas of transportation and logistics. Sue’s military experience has helped her to enhance her leadership skills, which has been instrumental in her success in leading our HR Shared Service Center. We are proud to have her on our team, advocating for her fellow service members and advancing Nutrien’s Military Recruitment.
Captain Kevin B. is an Officer of 16 Service Company, with about 40 soldiers split between Saskatoon and Regina. His passion for helping soldiers get time away from work to complete their training comes from his own experience. Through Nutrien’s progressive military policy - that he helped institute - he found the flexibility to complete his Basic Military Officer Land qualification, EME Officer training, and even was deployed on an Arctic Exercise as a Platoon Commander.
Jason was a summer student at Nutrien and his experience as a Process Operator provided him with a level of confidence that helped him transition into the private sector, learning to meet new people and form new bonds. He felt a sense of team cohesion he never thought he would experience again after leaving the military. His work at Nutrien helped him develop new skills and intelligence while also allowing him to leverage his pre-existing skill set. While working at Nutrien, Jason found the same sense of pride that he had discovered in the military. Seeing the good that Nutrien does in the world, and knowing that he had a part in that, made him feel like a useful member of a team, not just another cog in the machine. Nutrien has shown him that it is possible to make a permanent transition into the private sector and find your calling in a new frontier.
Shannan accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in her 27 years in the Navy, and she has applied it in different roles since joining Nutrien in 2017. In the Navy, Shannan began as an ocean systems technician analyst, tracking submarines with the help of underwater surveillance equipment. She was, later, a Navy recruiter, gaining experience in organizational development, administration, and Human Resources. After her promotion to Chief Petty Officer, Shannan accepted an Administrative Chief’s position in the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC). During the final years of her service, she managed administration/HR departments and later, operations during multiple deployments within the NSWC and Joint Forces Commands worldwide. Shannan began at Nutrien as a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) test coordinator, and now works as a quality and process support analyst with our HR Shared Service Center. Her attention to detail, organizational management, and customer service skills she learned in the Navy are invaluable to her work.
